Tata Vega.
Táta’s voice has been heard by millions through her incomparable singing for the movie The Color Purple. Quincy Jones and Steven Spielberg felt Táta Vega was the only voice they wanted to sing the now classic “Miss Celie’s Blues” and the climactic “Maybe God Is Tryin’ To Tell You Somethin.’” Additionally, her voice has been heard in such films as A Time To Kill, Forrest Gump, Amistad and the theme song, “The Circle Of Life” in The Lion King (Latin American version). Táta has lent her voice to countless other projects for artists including Joe Cocker, Bebe and Cece Winans, and Patti LaBelle. Her tenure as a featured vocalist with Gospel legend and mentor Andraé Crouch produced one of the most requested songs by a single Gospel artist, the now classic “Oh, It Is Jesus.”
